Dr Sam Fowler

Head of Internal Medicine (Veterinary Surgeon)

After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Sam moved home to Suffolk and joined our Woodbridge team in 2019.

He completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine with the University of Liverpool in 2023, and joined the prestigious list of RCVS Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Medicine in 2025.

He primarily cares for the inpatients admitted to our Woodbridge hospital, as well as working up complex medical cases referred from all of our branches. He has an interest in all aspects of small animal medicine, but particularly in the investigation and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases with particular focus on the importance of the gut microbiome and is a member of the European Society of Comparative Gastroenterology (ESCG).

A serial student, he is also working towards another certificate in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging to improve his knowledge and services to an even higher level, and regularly performs heart and abdominal ultrasounds in our clinic as well as endoscopy.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with his two adorable Brussels Griffons and exploring the world with his husband Richard.
